Download Windows Movie Maker, open the video in Movie Maker, export it to WMV and you're good to go.

only one small problem i'm having...i didn't use explosions or any others just yet, but I tried this effect with rain but 2 problems occured.
1 - It seemed to slow up my video for the amount of time the effect was on.
[could probably just the program rendering perhaps]
2- It silences my video.

@wacfilms Adding video effects are CPU and Ram intensive. If your computer is running low on memory or doesn't have a multi-core processor, it can cause the preview display to slow and renders will take more time.
Adding a video overlay has no effect on the audio track.

@gameplayer435 Yes, you can rotate, invert, reverse, speed up, slow down, or pan & zoom the effect.
