I would agree with you assessment as to what being "presidential" should be. The problem....IMHO....is that when anyone gets to that level of politics is they are all are... or become corrupt. We don't officially have an elite ruling class. However, for decades it seems we have only had super wealthy, ivy league, groomed from birth politicians to choose from. So in a way...we have been forced into a sort of monarchy like style of government.
@Jugheadr2 Yes, basically that is what I am saying. It also, doesn't seem to matter what letter is in front of their names...D or R. At the end of the day. They always seem to bow to their own self serving financial interests. I am not one of these misguided "occupy wall street" people. But, they do have a bit of a point in that....our government can be bought and controlled despite the will of the people...and in turn....we are bought and controlled.
@pmhoard How to get around this, maybe take a lesson from the priesthood. If you really want to serve you would be required to give all your wealth to government and once you leave office be required to live only on your government retirement and never be allowed to take up private employment again.

@pmhoard That is an interesting take.
What you are really saying is that we have let ourselves (our votes) be bought by flashy expensive media propaganda?
No way for a middle class candidate to afford to compete in this game?
