@AshleyJordanVideos From orange to blue/ from happy birthday 2 peek-a-booo/ I love balloons/They take sadness away/bring smiles 2 my face/from them screeching n my palms/to trying 2 squeeze them under my arms/They make me laugh out loud/whether alone or n a crowd/Guaranteed to make me smile/I'll blow them from flat to float/Tie them with a rope/or a string/to have a ballon i'll even sing/whatever way they come/I always want 1/if i could make just one wish/2 float inside a balloon like a goldfish

Even at 26 it bothers the hell out of me I did not appreciate education and the effort my teachers put in ( regardless of how poor the school system was) to keep me from being like the kid in this poem. Now I have a newfound respect for those teachers who have a real calling and put in that extra effort both physically and financially to make sure the next generation has something to offer the world regardless of age social class or creed. I regret taking them for granted.

Using this in class tomorrow for my intro on slam poetry. It's a poem my students will be able to relate to. I'm hoping they'll find a way to use reading/writing as an outlet, & that they won't give up, even though it's a lot harder for them to read than the avg person. Thank you for this piece!
