  • This song came out in late 1970 and definitely not in '73. Its title, "Ija Pari" refers to the end of both the feud between Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey and the Nigerian Civil War. Both Sunny and Obey sang about the ceasefire that I.K.Dairo and Adeolu Akinsanya, who also cut a single on it, mediated. It's easy to date juju music by the style and the sophistication of instruments; Sunny was far ahead of this style by '73, when he used to jam with Obey at live shows. Obey's version is a must.

  • @Outreachat - Moos at Global Groove wasn't certain about the date but someone had hand written "1973" on the cover so 1973 was the best guess. Your logic seems to narrow it down a bit better though. I'll change the date in the discription. Cheers and thanks.

  • GrooveMonzter, where on earth did you get this from? It blows my mind. Thank you soooooooooooooooo much.

  • I agree with outreachat, this LP was released in late 1970 in a respond to Obey's release on this saga. This was very close to my 11th's birthday in November 1970,So there is no mix-up or mistake about 1970. I'm now playing this two records simoultenously on groovemonzter. Indeed you are a monster, and I love u so much

  • @groovemonzter - Thanks for replying, Groovemonzter. If only you listened to "Sehinde", which many used to call Sunny Ade's finest LP for a long time, you'd see that the style is one and the same as here. Shehinde was released in early 1971, along with Obey's Board Members; both musicians had a way of expanding concepts in SPs into LPs. I certainly still remember the amber dusk of those 1970 when I used to listen to Ija Pari!

  • baba u are the best, pls l will like to listen to obey ija pari, u make me happy everytime l open ur webside, pls keep it up, God will bless u, and ur family
