As a 15 year old in 2004, here is 2008 Olympian Gary Russell (Blue Corner) vs. Jabri Kelly during the 2004 DC Golden Gloves from Sugar Ray Leonard Gym in Palmer Park, MD. The following year, Russell went on to win the National Golden Gloves in the 119lbs division.

    Thx for posting this. I love watching great pro boxers fighting in their amateur years. I say great because Russell has that much potential imo. I'm impressed with what Russell has done so far as a pro. The speed of his punches is on another level.

    G has great quick hands but notice in the 3rd round J attacked him bc there was no way J could beat him on the out side bc he couldn't match G's speed. J began to nullify G's hand speed as he got closer but then got rocked and had to get a standing 8 count. Had J gotten inside on him by the 2nd round he might have had a chance. But alil too late. Much respect to both fighters for stepping into the square circle. I look forward to seeing G as a pro.

    nothing unique about his style. the problem is that the other kid doesn't know how to combat against a southpaw. it irritates me to see him adjusting is gear some much. you think the coaches would help to make him feel comfortable in his gear. other than that, good boxing.
