strawberry fair 2010-the fight back begins!!

strawberry fair a popular date on the free festival calendar since 1974 has been cancelled this year due to pressure from the cambridgeshire police but call outs have been made to go there anyways and have our own party!

Panzerfish, I enjoy the Fair myself. If you live in Cambridge then you know that in previous years the fair left a week-long wake of the damage to private property, drug and alchohol fuelled violence, and not so many years ago a rape and a murder. All caused by the selfish few. This year there were no such incidents. Closing the fair for one year gave the organisers and police a chance to WORK TOGETHER to screen out that element. Worth a year's closure I'd say.

@hersirirminsul you cant judge everyone by a few bad apples, You have ANY collection of people and there would b crimes commited.Having a place where people can come together and do their own thing without fear is good Oh n I went to this years fair n It was THE most boring fair ever, may aswell of been at a WI run village fete. Now if you like that kinda stuff then go to one of themany that are held every year. But please leave us our one day were we can let our hair down and have fun.

What nonsense. Closing the fair for one year was nothing to do with police in middle-class pay oppressing of the working classes, it was about breaking the habit of drug fuelled muggings and rapes, alcohol fueled violence and opportunistic shop-lifting and purse snatching. I went to the PROPERLY ORGANISED 2011 Strawberry Fair and have just this to say:

It was great fun, everyone was clearly happy and people felt they could take their children without fear of exposure to inappropriate behaviour.

@roxanableu right go to christ's pieces, go to the big crowds of people on there near the princess diana memorial, ask any one of them if they know where kev, or ketamine kev, is. they will know him, either that or he'll already be there. and he deals quite alot of drugs i think, and has numbers but he's kinda.. violent :L
