Morlan was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the third round (91st overall) of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft out of Coral Park High School in Miami, Florida. Morlan went 4-3 with a 3.15 earned run average with high Single-A Fort Myers of the Florida State League in 2007. The Cuban saved 18 games and fanned 92 hitters in 65 and 2/3 innings of work.
