I bought a small bobber that i liked but the engine was too small and the vibration from the high rpms was shaking the bike apart. I saw this 1980 CB650C engine for sale on the net and decided to make a winter project. I painted the engine, ended up switching out the carbs for some 85 nighthawk carbs, cause the originals were to gummed up, I cut the headers apart to fit around my frame and fit on my end pipes, I had to change the rotor and regulator for the charging system, I welded chain links together for mounts to the frame... SPRING TIME!!! The engine only has 29k Km. a bit of blue but it has sat a number of years. I think it will be fine. The bike only weighs 400 pounds. Nearly 60 hp. With the 4 carbs and cylinders this bike rocks! There wont be anything pullin up like mine :0)

  • I used Chain, and welded it together so it was a solid line, some with a bolt in the middle so i could take out the engine if i want to. i put the mounting bolts through the end link of the chain, then welded the other end to the frame, had to cut the headers and re-weld them to fit around the front of the frame. changed to a bigger chain and sprocket. so really not much, just cut off original mounting brackets from frame, 650 has great power for this bike. same hp as 1300 Vtwin
