I can't solder at home so I wanted something that didn't require a torch. I thought I found the answer when I found this tool at AC Moore called ColdHeat. I guess there was a reason why they didn't place this with other tools for Jewelry making because after reading reviews (after opening it... :( boo hoo), it seems like it works great for soldering circuit boards or electrical wire that are bigger..so if someone else found a better way to use this little tool to solder a jump ring, let me know! :) thanks!

  • do you know how to solder...?

  • @candicecharlson Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, i had issues logging on. I do not know how t solder, but some co workers knew i was making jewelry and trying to learn how to solder so they suggested me get some tools. Boy, it completely sucked!!

I fuse now, I was lucky enough to have a friend teach me the basics, but i suggest taking a class for that. :)

  • I got some thick solder and used this heat to it fo rlike more than 30 seconds.

The solder thing popped out. So I pushed it back in and started soldering and pretty soon my coldheat completely melted and smoked started coming out of the switch. So I turned the dang thing off.

I Just not ddid this. useing it for it's very first time

    I say.

where the HELL WERE THE INSTRUCITONS!

I'm not going to call a 1800 number to see how it works.

    Thanks for the video though...

  • I should do an update on this video. The soldering tool did not work for my craft needs. I went to home depot and got soldering wire and it worked fine, but you can heat it so many times before it melts off. OH, by the way, did you actually touch the tip? they said it doesn't hurt, but freaking it hurts! I burnt myself TWICE trying to proof something, but...... ah never doing that again!! sorry my video didn't help you much. I should do a follow up one.

  • @ChrisWatch sorry i didnt see your msg earlier. I would have recommended for you to return it. I am not super savvy with Youtube so with the whole thing change with my email acccount it was hard for me to log in and logging in was by chance. what were you soldering?

  • Also I want to mention, i did it for a good 1 to 2 mins..but it didnt work :(

  • well when I bought it, I was told that putting it together like i did, over lapping it, it would melt the jumpring together because of the heat. It didn't work for me thought, did it work for you?

  • i did not see any solder. ?
