This is from a visit I made to the former Chippewa Lake Park near Medina, Ohio. The park has been sitting abandoned, and deteriorating, for the past 30 years. The land has been bought to be redeveloped into "Chippewa Landing," and construction is planned to start in 2009.

As you can tell this Tumble Bug (which was also called "The Bug") is SBNO (Standing But Not Operating), but there are a handful of full-size, operating "Tumble Bug," "Bug," "Turtle (Kennywood)" rides left in the world.
Video of operating Tumble Bugs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAle-a4If7Q

"The Tumble Bugs are of the same design with a circular, 100' diameter, undulating track."
(Previous sentence partially quoted from http://www.conneautlakepark.com)

Recorded with my Samsung NV24HD camera.

If you would like to see pictures from my visits to the park go to:

(And the squeaking you might hear in the video is from my camera bag. I did not add a soundtrack because I wanted you to be able to here all of the sounds in the forest, the birds, the bugs, etc.)

  • DANG that is so cool!! I love urban exploration!! So sad to hear that this place will be torn down :( I love old abandoned places.

  • Yeah, urban exploration is really fun! It does stink that they plan on tearing this down though.

  • i bet it would be even scarier to ride it now lol

  • Haha without a doubt! :]

  • Cant believe it just stayed there

  • I know, it's crazy to see it in person. The developers have brought up a plan to save The Tumble Bug and use it as decoration. I think that would be neat.

  • Pretty old!

  • Yep 30 years! Anything worth removing was taken out right after the park closed, but some things were left behind. And over 30 years people have taken just a lot of other things that can be moved, roller coaster cars, ticket booths, and other things.

The land is being redeveloped now, with the hope to build a Hilton hotel, a culinary institute, a Japanese spa, among other things!

    Thanks for watching :)
