IAAF World Cup 1985 - 4x100 women GDR 41.37 WR

This is another of those freaky athletics records set in those years.
It was 1985, in Canberra for the 4th edition of IAAF World Cup, the GDR athletes set the world record for 4x100 metres with an extraterrestrial and still unbeaten 41.37, GDR improved it for the 9th consecutive time and frankly I doubt any relay could beat it.

You should be more repectful . And the answer to your question is no. She is in her fifties and happily married with her trainer Wolfgang Meier. She manage a sport shop in Rostock, Germany, and is mother of a daughter. In her shop there is no reference to her sport carrer so that she can make sure people there go for shopping and nothing else. You should know Marita Koch is personally shy and discreet and one of the most talented athletes in the history of track and field.

@HotChixAndMusic Johnson were exactly the complementar of Carmelita Jeter, please don't misunderstand my statement, i'm her fan but her resistance to lactic acid is near zero, until she will never be able to run around 51.0 in the 400 VCB will always be two meters ahead of her.Even Shalonda Solomon far mor resistent than her isn't faster than 53 secs in the 400, at the opposit Walter Dix, Tyson Gay, Xavier Carter & Usain Bolt are good or even excellent also in the 400.

i was remembered after world championship 1991, when Katrin Krabbe fall in drugs issue,, till now we didn't see any superb sprinter from Germany (west) anymore,, I mean,,little bit confuse here ,in last 70 till 90, Germany produce some talented and blasted sprinter like marrita Koch, Silke Gladish, Marlies Ghor,Katrin Krabbe,, compare it with US & Jamaican,, where are the German? they need more drugs??

Happy birthday to 3.oldest World record in Track and Field,,I saw it live on TV ,6.10.1985.Marlies Göhr ran 9 world records in 4x100m relays..

Even fully doped up athletes like Johnson, Lewis etc, only increased their raw speed. Michael Johnson only had endurance which is why he never ran below 200. Yet Marita set WR's at 60m, 200, 400, and was an integral part of the 4x100 too. NO athlete has ever had such an exhilarating combination of speed AND endurance as Marita
