The inevitable consequence of holding a materialistic atheistic worldview is solipsism. Empiricism, based on sensory experiences are not able to provide a foundation for universal propositions due to their transitory nature.

  • I am not so convinced there is a "real" world out there. I know there is a "perceived" world out there. Butall I know is my own awareness of existence exists. But even that may have no physical form whatsoever and reality may be the substance that we perceive of as "dreams" we awake and find to our surprise it was all a dream.

Perhaps we die and find to our surprise our life and reality was all a dream.

  • @jagg1951 Very good points!

  • i know reality exists, Ijust do not know its true form. I percieve of a physical world of animal vegetable and mineral, only to discover all these physical objects are composed of the same protons electrons and neutrons which are further composed of sub atomic particles which are basically little particles of energy, vast distances apart, making what seems solid actually mostly empty space

  • @jagg1951 Yes, we all are convinced there is a real world out there. Unfortunately our perception of it acts as a barrier between us and the thing in itself. I have run into many people who thought they saw and heard things that weren't there. People with the dt's from booze often see spiders and snakes that aren't there. One of the basic problems of empiricism is its subjectivity. The senses, as any good magician will tell you, are easily deceived. We are talking here of basic epistemology.

  • 2+2=4 is an axiomatic truth and independant of personal experience. It's true for person A, B, C,...etc. Solipsism results from a lack of axioms.

  • @jagg1951. Time is an illusion, all you have is the now, the future is nothing but a concept, it doesn't exist, not even physically. The past is similar, it's gone, it doesn't exist physically. Now the present or now isn't really here either because whoops... THAT is in the past once again, you try it again and you always end up in the now. It's all an illusion, a concept for the human consciousness to have a linear reality, structure.

  • @jagg1951. This existance here IS from the awareness, yes. Our purpose here is to have intensity of emotions and feelings from the belief of not being able to control this reality, such as losing a loved one. Time/space, a linear reality is illusion, a human consciousness conept. Your reality is a reflection, a validation of the beliefs you hold, every aspect with no exception, there is no learning or enlightenment to achieve unless of course you believe there is, that's the irony.

  • @GranFury440

Personally I believe that the reality of what we (the illusions) are is a creation of the awareness that spontaneously came into existence our "God" created us to try to discover our origin and purpose, unfortunately there is none other than what we create for ourselves. Of course now that we do exist our purpose is to unite with all we have discovered and share it with one another instead of fighting and arguing about it.

  • @jagg1951. Reality is an illusion. You are all that is and yet you are nothing. Because the all that "exists" is an illusion, but not insignificant for you CHOOSE to be here. There are other realities but in those "creations" the entities participating understand that they are in complete control of it. THIS here is the ONLY reality where we hide from who and what we truly are. A belief system of not being in control gives us intensity of emotions and feelings and that's why we're here.

  • I fail to see the inevitability of Solipsism. I see the stupidity of solipsism but not how atheism necessarily leads to it.
