It's not too often that we hear the "tornado" sirens sounding in Cincinnati, and even rarer when they go off in February. The date of this recording is 2/11/09, and the entire tri-state had been placed under a tornado watch due to the volatility in the atmosphere. High humidity & winds and temperatures in the low to mid-60's have resulted in the potential for storms in the immediate area, and the same storm had been responsible for considerable damage further west. While the prevailing weather in my immediate area (Anderson Township - east side of Cincinnati) was merely rain, the prediction for intense weather was being announced all over the radio & TV. If it happens, you know I'll have my camera in my hands to record it!

At the beginning of the video, my car is facing south at the intersection of Nagle & Beechmont.

  • how come in the us u guys have sirens

  • @Snipermaster57- We used to use smoke signals to warn of an impending tornado threat, but the smoke kept getting blown away before people could see it. So, we resorted to sirens.

  • What, no trailer park?

  • The absence of trailer parks is all that is keeping the tornado gods from hitting my area of town. I wonder how big a cluster of trailers consitutes a "trailer park"?

  • there is only one god . are they going to replace those thunderbolts soon i hope not

  • huh?

  • I wanted to correct your video. The carpet store on the corner wasn't a synagogue, but the old location of Cherry Grove United Methodist Church. In 1977, they moved to the present location on Eight Mile Rd. Just an FYI, for those who aren't from the area. (I attended this church for 30+ years.) Thanx alot!!! :D

  • Is the street flooded or something?

  • love the sirens. seeing that gas station price, man i wish it was that low still.

  • Tbolt awesome

  • yup. thats cinci for you. tornado in february..haahhaa

  • just saw this video, and i have to say it kind of cracked me up. i bet you folks up there were listening and thinking, "what the hell???" lol. i live here in oklahoma. around this time of year, you can hear those sirens at least twenty times in the summer months. did any touch down? btw, i passed through anderson a couple of years back when my friends and i were on a road trip. nice town. some of the friendliest people we'd ever met during that trip.

  • Sweet a thunderbolt siren
