An Olympic medalist shouldn't be called a failure, but her performances in Beijing were certainly a disappointment considering the standards she'd set in the time leading-up to the games. In worlds '07 she won the 400IM by 8 seconds! the improvements of others since are due to the suits; she should have been at about 4:25 with current technology.

Who is she? I thought Natalie was the 'golden girl' for the US team. Rebecca Soni totally rocked in Beijing and Kacey Carlson was awesome in Rome 2009!
-
Its easy, she didn't swim fast enough to win.

exactly! making the team for the olympics is huge itself....yes everyone would like to win a gold.....but winning a silver and a bronze is just as good to me. I mean u've come 2nd and 3rd among the BEST swimmers around the WORLD! thats impressive!

one or two too many.

Yes!! Becca rules!!

listen, don't get me wrong, i love katie, she's my favorite swimmer but the expectations were high based on her talent and she didn't deliver......I guess she was too nervous to perform at her best. She has the talent to be the world's number in many events but she is kinda weak mentally.

Failed so badly? She made it to the Olympics... that should be enough for anyone.

Blame Michael Phelps
Anyone who calls winning a silver and two bronze medals failing badly has seriously lost all perspective.
I blame the media.
