The Katzenjammer Kids is a comic strip created by the German immigrant Rudolph Dirks and drawn by Harold H. Knerr for 37 years (1912 to 1949). It debuted December 12, 1897 in the American Humorist, the Sunday supplement of William Randolph Hearst's New York Journal.
After a series of legal battles between 1912 and 1914, Dirks left the Hearst organization and began a new strip, first titled Hans und Fritz and then The Captain and the Kids. Dirks' new strip featured the same characters seen in The Katzenjammer Kids, which was continued by Knerr. The two separate versions of the strip competed with each other until 1979, when The Captain and the Kids ended its six-decade run. Currently, The Katzenjammer Kids is still distributed by King Features, making it the oldest comic strip still in syndication.

  • Nice to see a tribute to the two greatest Katzenjammer Kids artists ever! Still, I can't help but feeling that the song accompanying these pictures doesn't really fit Hans and Fritz. Also, a bit of nit-picking regarding two of the pictures: The covers shown at 0:12 to 0:19, and at 0:41 to 0:49, seem to be drawn by Joe Musial. Yes, some of the other pictures may be drawn by different artists too, but Musial's style is so far from Dirks' and Knerr's that it seems odd to have him included here.

  • Hi, Mesterius1!

About the song I must be changed it and get another song on the youtube swap with 2:23.

I'd read Hans and Fritz magazine ("Os sobrinhos do capitão" here in Brazil) at the final 50' - 1957 a 1959 - and my brother and me love it so much. On the google search I got the pics and made the video. That's my old wish. The other artists deserve this homage to, but I think it's all right now.

    I included Joe Musial.

Many thanks for your help. Sorry my English.

    God bless you!

  • Really funny! Thanks for this!

  • Very nice.

  • It's a pity that people can't see more things about the K.Kids, the little cartoon in black and white that's on youtube if fine but I'm sure that many fans will be glad to find more and more... Best regards!
