This reef, running along Nusa Penida's north coast with slopes down to about 50m (165 ft) advertises, in season, white tips, green morays, grouper, sea snakes, manta rays and barracuda, with the main attraction being the hammerheads that cruise by here at around 20m. The clear water flowing past this site makes it a good place for snorkeling as well.
Rolling off the boat, we drop to 20m (66 ft) and drift lazily with the current; one eye on the reef and the other on the blue water, hoping for an encounter with a "reefie" or a Hammerhead or, perhaps, a passing Barracuda. Sadly, no such luck, but there's still plenty to see before we surface to join the boat, which has followed us down the wall.
