Today, April 15th is Claudia Cardinale's birthday! As a tribute, this video showcases 10 of her movies from 1960 or earlier (credits in the video); photos are also from 1960 or earlier. By the time she was 22, Claudia was in several masterpieces of European film: Rocco and His Brothers, Big Deal on Madonna Street, and Facts of Murder. The color films shown are Upstairs and Downstairs and Austerlitz (I might include them in my video Claudia Cardinale 19 but I didn't have the DVDs then). For music, I thank my friend Claudia as I open with one of her fave's, Alan Menken's Transformation from Beauty and the Beast. Otherwise I use some very classic Italian pieces: Beniamino Gigli, the great Neapolitan tenor sings La canzone dell'amore and Nino Rota's La Strada trumpet and piano themes.

How could I contact Claudia (letter-email...) whom I met in Tunis in 1954-55 when she was dating a close friend of mine? I would love to evoke briefly those long gone times with her. The occasion is favorable to wish her a Happy Birthday! Claude B.
