In car 0 - 85 run in a 96 V8 SHO converted with the Mazda 6 MTX (A65M-R). Pavement was slightly damp so tire adhesion was not at it's best. Sweet to bang a V8 through the gears in a Taurus however.

  • did the mtx swap make any difference in speed, (faster or slower)

  • @123cocojojo

Unfortunately I changed motors when I had it all apart but based on other V8 SHO ATX cars it is about .5 seconds faster in the quarter mile. The additional gear (3rd is perfect for the quarter as it maxes out at about 97 so the 90'ish trap speeds are right at about 6300 - 6500 right where the dyno curve is falling off) and the loss of about 120 pounds makes this all seem about right. With the right driver it probably saves a few tenths more than .5

  • @ven0msho thanks for the reply, another question, are you able to a launch like the yamaha 3.0's (the burnout) or not really. And by burnout i dont mean sit still and make a cloud, my moms KIA optima can do that

  • @123cocojojo FWD burnouts = Lame anyway....

Honestly I don't need to abuse this homebrew drive line by doing stupid pointless stuff like that. I drive the car fairly hard and it does see a track day occasionally but I do not try to roast the tires into a cloud of smoke. If I had to guess compared to a V6 SHO (MTX) this is probably not as effective at that pointless display of power as the car is significantly heavier than the V6 SHO's.

  • luv it

Cause they have automatic transmissions, if you add a manual or start out in automatic 1 to launch then shift into overdrive around 6100rpm you can get 0-60 around 6.5. It helps to add a cone intake filter and delete the 3rd cat then unplug the battery to reset the computer and allow it to adjust.

Source: done it, maybe I'll make a video sometime.

  • It's all fun and games, until some one forgets to weld their camshafts.

  • why are v8 sho's so slow?

  • @ven0msho Holy cow. You have to fork over $500 for a junkyard transmission? Do they screw you over because they know what its for? Here in central Cali, its about $150, reguardless of what type or application. You can save even more, when you wait a month or two for the 50% off sales.

  • ta hell wit that...get 2 garrett turbos from 2 used civics and spend 2k on the trans...thats what i did. i have a 2k svt contour that i was thinking of strippin it of its trans. and for all the na sayers on this page, go fuk ya self. i beleive dude. the rpm's mirror a 5speed. i have pro;;y the onlly TT v8 sho on the planet and u dont c me wit 30 vidz of it. you wanna c it, then go 2 race way 41 in morroco indiana. i'll have my 03 ses taurus duratec wit a gtp blower there as well. great job kid
