You need to support it on the bottom also. That is why you are having problems with the bearing. It's taking to much stress and twisting pressure. So try two which is better than one. One on top and one on the bottom.

Is the skin aluminum? I have a fair amount of galvanized sheet metal, but it's much heavier than aluminum. Tempted to use it, but think I may regret the weight issue. Nice job on that btw.

I like your base. Is it anchored to the ground at all?

Good day! The base is 5-feet square at the base and is made of welded 3/4-inch black pipe, which forms a pyramid shape.
The base simply sits on the ground with a few weights across the bottom tubes for "insurance". I am pleased on how stable the unit is.
During high winds, it is a little scary watching those large blades whipping around!
A torque shaft travels from the top through the center tube. Someday, the generator will be mounted and driven off the torque shaft.

Thanks. Baby steps at this point. It has been way too cold to work outside on anything! I sure would like to see if can produce any power!
