I don't think I heard a gong in there.. I played percussion through the Bluefield Highschool Band, favorite song in all my years there

@seecritagent its not horns its a euphonium part, i played it last night :-)

It's surprising seeing how many people liked playing this song. The Wind Ensemble at my school hated it. Not so much the calm beginning of the overall piece, but this part. The odd timing and some seemingly sporadic and random moments made it a very odd piece, especially without a percussion section that can keep a beat. And Mark Camphouse said he hated Sedona, which all of us liked playing. I did enjoy playing Tuba in pretty much all this piece, except 0:25 to 1:12.

@pkm321 Me too. I love this song to begin with, and for once the tubas get an entertaining and exciting part. It's absolutely fantastic.

I LOVE the tuba's at 2:15.
I played this song at FSU a few months ago. I never quite understood why it ends on such an interesting chord, but it's not my place to question the composition.

It ends unresolved to illustrate the idea that racial conflict, despite decades of progress against it, is still among us today.
Hope that helps.
