In 1990, after years of frustration, UT sought revenge against the Ags who featured a power running game with Bucky Richardson, 5000 yd runner Darren Lewis, and NFL fullback Robert Wilson. A&M also had a stacked D with loads of NFL talent like Quinten Coryatt (TCU hitter), William Thomas, Kevin Smith, Chris Crooms, and others like Marcus Buckley and Derrick Frazier. I was there in the horseshoe as a student and I'm sure many of you were too on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in front of a national CBS audience.

A&M took the opening KO and marched down the field with over 12 runs and no passes for a Lewis TD. Looking dominant, UT could only hope for better times and to their credit Amadee and Leon Fuller did make some adjustments as we see.

UT could not do much in the opening drives and A&M got the ball back but despite a pretty end around and some abusing of Dronett (must see) could not complete a 3rd down thanks to Stanley Richard.

Gardere then throws an INT to Frazier and A&M exploits the short field for another Lewis TD. A&M dominating on the ground as Robert Wilson throwing some crushing blocks. The PAT shows a lot of Ags in the UT section. Ags up 14-0.

The speedy Adrian Walker takes the KO for a big return setting up the UT scoring drive. This drive is interrupted by an explanation of the Ag 12th man tradition @1922. Gardere takes it to the end zone on a 50 yard run up the gut as the A&M players had no idea who had the ball until the last moment. Peter the Great showing surprising speed in the open field against the NFL quality LBs. 14-7 game now.

Ags get the ball and promptly fumble with Oscar Giles recovering deep in Ag territory. A&M sacks Gardere but not a big yard loss. However the FG attempt is blocked by Derrick Frazier, his 2nd big play of the game.

Later in the quarter Alex Waits averts disaster and miraculously gets off a punt. Ags can't score and give it back to and UT goes on to score with runs by Patrick Wilson who was subbing for an injured Butch Hadnot. Probably the best game of P.Wilson's college career and have a look at some of the hip fakes he puts on the Ag LBs. Keith Cash with a nice 3rd down snag to keep the drive alive. Keith Cash with an excellent TD catch. 14-14 and Halftime .

  • Since the non-requirement of Corps of Cadets involvement, the series between the Longhorns and Aggies have been tight. In the past 25 years, the Aggies own it! All this is too obvious. Gig'Em!!!!!

  • @radio187 hey fuck u

  • darren is my cousin

  • But Texas didn't know that when they played Miami. The Cotton bowl was (and still pretty much is) the first bowl game played on New Year's Day. A Colorado loss in that night's Orange Bowl could have given Texas a share of the title. But the 46-3 blowout made a possible Notre Dame win over CU irrelevant.

  • Texas had no shot at the national title in 1990. Had they beaten Miami in the '91 Cotton Bowl, Texas still would have finished behind Colorado and Georgia Tech, who would eventually split the national championship that year.

  • that cotton bowl was excellent.....its what made everyone hate miami even more i have that game on tape. the best part was randal "thrill" hill scoring and running up the tunnel and breaking out the six shooters lol lol stanley should have never opened his big mouth. hes still having nightmares of that game.

  • texas didnt play for the title if they would have won they would have won the title but they didnt miami did

  • Bucky and Lewis ran through that "defense" like crap through a goose in a preview of the debacle in the Cotton Bowl against Miami. David McWilliams, Stanley Richard and the Cash twins should apologize to the entire State of Texas for that embarrassment.

  • lmao @ 4:53 - 4:58
