Two LFOs at different rates from Doepfer A-143-3 create a varying rhythm using the Doepfer A-163 divider, A-165 trigger modifier, and A-166 logic. The A-160 and 161 are used to sequence Cwejman VCO-2RM. All sounds are Doepfer A-117 ring modded with either VCO-2RM or A-143-3 at audio rate.

  • Ok. I don't understand a 100% (ie. why the mixer would control the pitches) since I'm new at modular synthesis, but I hope to replicate it, or at least get inspiration from it one day.

  • @erlandmusic See page 8 of the Doepfer A-161 manual (available for download on Doepfer's site). It shows you how to do it.

  • What exactly are the A-160 and 161 sequencing?

  • @erlandmusic Run the outputs of the A-160 and/or 161 into a mixer. Send the mixer output to a VCO pitch input. In this situation the mixer knobs set the sequencer pitches.

  • just 1 recording question. did you record this straight from doepfer´s audio out or use some speaker(s) (mice´d up?).

    any processing, reverb etc.

so basically, are we hearing dry signal or not ;)

  • Hi it's the modular and an Edirol R-09 HR field recorder only. I don't ever do any post processing. There is a pair of Doepfer A-199 spring reverbs in the modular though, and I use them in stereo on almost everything.
