"Blue Finger" is one of Jerry Reed's best-known compositions. It combines a melodic, walking bass line with Jerry's trademark jazz/blues sound. This arrangement, in standard tuning, is based on the original tune (as tabbed by Michel Long in his book "The Guitar of Jerry Reed") along with elements of an arrangement by Don Ross (as recorded on his self-titled CD) and some of my own ideas.
Jerry Reed (1937-2008) is perhaps most familiar to the general public for his role as a trucker in the movie Smokey & the Bandit. But he was primarily an accomplished singer-songwriter and amazing guitarist. His friend Chet Atkins recorded many of Jerry's original instrumentals.
