the motorcycle is ridiculous. and he look uncomfortable. it's just a schtick.

but why in the world would you cast a heldentenor in bartered bride? the equivalent would be casting a light-lyric rossini tenor to sing siegfried. this production doesn't make sense on many levels.

I didn't say it can only be done ONE way. I was just expressing my reaction to this particular production. I think it's fair to express one's reaction whether one's an expert or not. Doesn't mean other people might not love it. It's what makes art interesting - varied points of view. I was simply expressing mine. I thought that was the point of these comments.
