surely this is an SK1 and not an XK1 ?

@mrastudio1 There are 3 electric pianos ("60s" - sounds like a Rhodes, "70s" - sounds like a Wurlitzer, and "80s" - very 1980s synth piano). Sadly no acoustic. The Hammond SK-1 has an acoustic piano setting. The electric pianos are sweet though. The 2 synths and the clavs are decent as well. I ended up buying a Yamaha CP33 to have a piano in my rig.

@SlowHandism How realistic is the piano sound? Do you use the xk's piano sound thru midi to your stage piano? Is there a Transpose function on the xk?

I play an XK-1 organ in a 60s/70s jam band. It give me a sweet and solid organ sound and never lets me down. It's got good electric pianos, and a couple of other voices including a decent analog synth effect. I ended up getting a Yamaha CP33 to add a piano to my rig. When you combine the XK-1 with a good stage piano, you have all you really need!

thanks man! very cool of you to share this videos with the rest of us! would you recommend buying this organ/keyboard for a beginner?

sorry, i don't understand if realistic piano is one of the 8 extra voices. thank you!
For $1500, you get a professional instrument that sounds great, and holds it's value well. I paid the same for my CX-3 in 1982, and it still sounds great thru a leslie.
As a stand alone keyboard, the XK-1 won't let you do everything that a comparably priced synth would do, but it will try to faithfully reproduce the tonewheel organ for years to come. Very rugged design too.

No, it doesnt come with a piano patch. That was a Roland RD300sx. The engineers threw in 8 extra voices, but no piano or strings, which would have made this keyboard a lot more versatile. Can't complain though, since it is mainly used for its sweet organ sounds.
