Japan forecasts that Sri Lanka will be the most developed country in South Asia
January 22, 2011 The Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka Kuniyo Takahashi has said that Sri Lanka will undoubtedly become the most developed country in South Asia.

The Ambassador expressed these views at the launch of development activities of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. Japan International Cooperation agency is spending 2.23 billion rupees under the allocations made by the Japanese Government for this project. Under this project, the government has taken measures to develop the hospital to be the main hospital in the Northern Province during the next 21 months. A surgical complex, an intensive care unit and a laboratory complex will also be provided. Minister Maithripala Sirisena granted permanent appointments for 35 causal employees. Fifty doctors will be provided for the hospital from the first of next month. Minister Douglas Devananda and Governor of the Northern Province G.A. Chandrasiri were amongst those who participated in the occasion.
