It's our choice to watch what we watch. It's your opinion, but mine is that we can watch whatever we want. I prefer subs, simply because dubs sound plastic and fake, ruining the anime entirely.
We have other ways of contributing to the anime industry. It's not always their DVDS. Do you have any idea how big it is, and how much they sell?
I actually disagree with the idea that that subs discourage the anime industry. The costs that go into making and ultimately producing a dub include transliteration, translation, adaption to fit the animation, then dubbing, producing, etc. Subs are easily half that, at a fraction of the cost and time, which means you can share it with a wider audience, faster, globally in any written language, for a lot cheaper, thus making it more accessible. It makes for more incentive to produce.
