@ImperfectApplePie ”Seelinnikoi”, kuten myös mantrat ”oi dai”, ”travuska” tai ”vot i kaalina” löytyvät Armas Launiksen 1906 äänittämästä fonogrammikokoelmasta. Nämä löytyvät esim. Kati Heinosen gradusta webistä haulla ”Armas Launiksen fonogrammit Soikkolasta”.

Seelinnikoin alkuperästä on olemassa jotain arveluja. Itse arvelisin sen tarttuneen kirkkoväen korvaan venäjänkielisestä ortodoksisesta messusta juhlavana ”loitsuna”, jota on lauluissa käytetty Värttinän tavoin!

The creators of the writing standard chose 1:1 equivalence with the pronunciation using 21 letters. The consequence is that you can “write aloud” dialects, which explodes the number of written forms and obsoletes translation machines. Värttinä lyrics are dialectal poetry, popular all over Finland. Google: “Poetry written aloud”.

Eastern Finnish dialects are optimistic and creative while western are pessimistic but good for abstract thinking – superior for “chewing the cud”: /watch?v=dbiXy00hSk8

@jakke58 This Seelinnikoi song IS in Finnish, not Karelian! Värttinä (Mari Kaasinen) is very ingenious when making lyrics that sounds mystically as Karelian even to native Finns. They (she) use some Karelian words (eg. seelinnikoi) mixed with an old Kalevala-type of language.
