It does NOT say you will be immortal, it says, "You will not TASTE death." That's quite a different statement. People who eat of death are full of FEAR. They live failed lives because their fear holds them back. They live with REGRET! A person who cannot taste death is fearless and they live their life that way, 100% filled to the limit!!!

Regardless of how we may view the man, he was enlightened. The Gospel of Thomas makes the death and resurrection, according to Harold Bloom, unnecessary, and does not portray Jesus as a man sacrificed to become a god. The message was simple: that the kingdom of God is both inside you and outside of you, or spoken differently: the kingdom of god is at hand. All real teachings point at paying attention, and not being led by others.

my apologies, I made my point was grammatically confusing lol

Orthodox Christianity as we know today was founded by Paul wrote in his own letters that he had a vision of Christ but never met him physically. He presented the teachings of Jesus in a very (Hellenistic) way that it could have been accepted by the non-Jews(Gentiles)

the earliest mention of Jesus is found in the Hindu Bhavisha purana

@albertsneijMD In Nat Geo's "Jesus, the man behind the myth" it is said that it is Coptic writen in Greek characters.... (Just passing on, I have no way of knowing is this is true.)

@turtle4aire , no, you don't understand. This is a copy of a much earlier text, and was probably translated from Greek.

Message of the gospel of Thomas is simple to understand: The kingdom of heaven is within. The light of love and truth is within. You must bring that forth in the world to have eternal love and peace.Be the change you want to see in the world.Ghandi understood this. There is nothing esoteric about this if your in touch with intuitive wisdom. church fathers say that salvation is through belief in resurrection.... and that they were the go between. You dont need the church, if the temple is within

@turtle4aire A person can live to be 200. I don't know if this was the case for Thomas though.

@Terrybob123 Is that you're way of trying to bring someone to Jesus? Insult his beliefs? "A tree is known by its fruit… Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things" (Matthew 12:33-35).
Gosphel of Thomas was written around the year 200 A.D. and suppose to be written by Thomas and Thomas would be over 200+ yrs. old at the time when he wrote it ! It is a Joke to say Thomas wrote it when he would have to be 200+ yrs. Old at the writting at the time !
As you say Thomas could be older than any of the other gosphel. I could have wings and fly,but really i can't ! If i can fly, Thomas could be older than any of the others ! I can't fly, so Thomas was not older than any Ones.

@turtle4aire
I am surprised that there is no Indian Translation, as that was where Thomas settled and built his Church.
