I taught my horse to do this today because he is extremely tall, and I couldn't do the Indian swing onto him or anything, so I finally found your video and it helped me out so much. (: I love it!

@MissaCraze Horses are so wonderful. They will do whatever you want as long as they feel safe. I worked with him by first getting off of him further and further down his neck. Sometimes I would just lay over his neck for awhile so he would get used to me being on his neck. Then (with a stool) I started mounting him at his shoulder, then further and further down his neck. Next I began asking him to lower his head to let me get on. This video was shot after working with him for only 2 hours!

@Horsepassion4life Horses' necks are incredibly strong in the upward direction. They have an enormous ligament that acts like a giant rubber band to help them lift their head up. An average sized horse can grab a man my size by the shoulder and fling them across the paddock like a rag doll if they are aggressive. The draft horse I was working with barely noticed my weight on his neck.
