He looks either high as hell or drunk in that video camera. He's not even knocking on the door, but simulating it. The guy's pyschotic plain and simple. He killed that girl and he killed Natalee Holloway too, and had somebody he knew dispose of the body.

it looks like he is tweaking hard in the video. That is why it looks so stupid...because he is so high he cant really make sense of what he wants do do.
