I remember when we heard sam was in the hospital for Bipass surgery. He showed up that night wearing a hospital top. he said he snuck out of the hospital. He didn't have the strength to sing but he did play. LOL

I used to go to the jazz place also. It was a vegetarian restaurant that always had great Brazilian Jazz. Harry bbq was next door. They would fight all the time because the ribs and chicken could be smelled for blocks. LOL I lived about 10 doors away from the taurus. My friend Jack was the manager.

ah the Taurus Tavern! I was waiting for a friend to meet me at the Jazz place across from the Taurus Tavern....but jazz never did to me what the blues seem to do...so I took a walk and first heard Sam's silky voice and then saw him playing ...I was so mesmerized I just stood there on the sidewalk and when he took a break, a crowd of people surrounded him and Sam moved away from them towards me and we just hugged without saying a word and became friends every since. I miss him!!!

hey divahb07 I love your granpa too!!! He was a great friend of mine and saved my life once along with his sister Vicky! If you see her tell Vera from Venice Beach sends her love ok? I also knew Bobby Taylor and Bibi Taylor....I loved all the Taylors that I met!

I used to play with Sam in the early 80"s at "The Taurus Tavern" Just about every week. Sam, Butch Mudbone, even Gregory Hindes would come down to play. Sam a great man

Sam was a very nice man! I always felt a warmth from him whenever I came to set in with him or just to watch him perform. The man was A Pro yall!!
