This is some aerial footage of the Thunderbird hangar burning at the Prince George BC Airport CYXS.
I got this footage while coming in for a landing in my plane. Dec 19, 2009 4:30 pm PST
When I was about to take off this afternoon around 2:45 there was a column of smoke coming out of the NT Air hangar. I was asked to standby by Air trafic control as they where talking with Shell on the radio about the fire. I heard the response then that the fire was under control via fire extiguisher, and that 911 had been called. The I heard the tower tell the airport fire dept. that they did not need to respond as the fire was under control and the city fire dept was responding to the fire. After I was finally given clearance to taxi, I notices there was realativly little smoke coming out of the hangar.
When I was returning from a sightseeing flight to the NE of Prince George I noticed the huge column of smoke rising from the airport. I aslo was beginning to hear a lot of chatter over the radio about the ash in the air around the airport and the hazard it might be to incoming aircraft.
When I got closer to the airport I asked for clearance to fly by the blaze to get some pictures. Then I landed and had to go out of my way to taxi back to my parking spot. This was when the roof began to cave in.
They still never found him too......

Wow, amazing video. That is so sad that the hanger burned down, at least they were able to get the aircraft and there tools out before it really went up. On a happy note, I am glad to see you are safe and sound. It's been a long time since I talked to you. I was just remebering how you use to build guitars, tricycles, and airplanes in our dorm room. Good times! Hey it would be nice to catch up with you and see what your up too.

I read about it and now I've just seen it. Thanks for uploading this.

AvWeb is reporting jurisdictional boundaries kept the Airport Fire Department from fighting the fire while waiting 25 minutes for the City Fire Department to show up. Think about that for a moment. Strangers would have done more. It's all about money, and not really Public Service, folks. Keep that in mind in next time you vote.

There were many businesses aside from NT-Air operating out of the building including Shell, Air Consol, Pine Tree Helicopters, Bluewater Business Solutions and Joe Martin & Sons, to name a few.
