The audio from this video is Brad Mehldau jamming over Louis Cole's "Motel Sadness." I don't know the details of the recording, but I think he was using a midi keyboard hooked up to garage band. Evidently, he imported louis's tune directly from the record, looped the ending, and just jammed the hell out for a few minutes. I hope you dig the result as much as I do!

I've had the great pleasure of working with Brad on a few tunes for Pomplamoose. I don't know when the tunes will be finished, but they're going to be awesome! I'll make sure to send out a blast when we have something in listenable shape.

  • JACK YOU ARE ALIVE!!! please make more music, i'm getting withdrawal symptoms! pomplamoose is good but just doesn't do it for me like you do :) i'd give you all my money to make another few songs...

  • @bassetts1899 DUDE!! i'm ALIVE, I promise. AND better yet, I've got a FULL length album coming out in a month or two. It's taking longer than I thought to finish, but 12 or 13 new songs are on their way. I only have two left, and then I'm done!

  • I would have left this one sitting on my hard drive. Although Brad Mehldau is undeniably a brilliant musician, which can't even be questioned, this jam doesn't do Louis' song any justice at all. Reduced to a backing track, this epically beautiful song suddenly becomes nothing more than a bunch of, granted, very interesting chords and changes, but it's far from providing any sort of compelling listening experience. I think Brad's solo is uninspired - just doesn't do anyone any good. Delete, pls..

  • brad mehldau plays the good notes

  • @jewver ahahaha it would be AWESOME

  • @DHGroove I was just thinking the same lol. I got to see him perform and meet him at school. Brilliant pianist. Pretty cool that he collaborates with Jack and Louis!
