A busy librarian of the future helps a patron doing research on careers in which adeptness with technology, a desire to help others, and a sense of humor are required. Closed captioned, in HD. A response to the SLA video contest on the "information professional of the future."

I won the contest with this video, in the library student category. Thanks for the support folks!

  • Information professionals in 2109... What challenges would they face? What skills would they need? What attributes would make them successful? The usual suspects: --dedication --passion in defending freedom of information --facility with using tools --copyright savvy --a sense of humor... Did I not hit the humor target squarely enough? I see comments on my apparent naïvité vis-a-vis the image of librarians. I choose to OWN the stereotype, disarm it, and move forward. Century 22 Calling!

Well said -- and it worked!

(my initial response too hasty, and vague)

Truly glad to see your piece win the contest. Well deserved.

  • I liked this...a lot! retro, humorous...fresh

  • worried that this presents a stereotype - what do you mean enjoy working indoors? eople need intormation and we should go to them ..

  • great -- but the commentary over otherwise excellent vintage footage a bit too stereotypical, no....?

  • Great video - very timely!
