Galt MacDermot's New Pulse Band plays "Freedom", featuring one of Bernard Purdie's amazing drum solos, followed by "Spotted Owl" featuring bass player Wilbur Bascomb, in a scene from "EAR OF THE HEART: the Music of Galt MacDermot" the upcoming documentary about the legendary composer of HAIR. Both Purdie and Bascomb have been closely associated with MacDermot for nearly 40 years, and both musicians are currently playing with the Broadway production of HAIR as are their fellow New Pulse bandmembers Vincent MacDermot (trombone) and Allen Won (saxophone)

  • Wilbur is my all (!) time favorite bass-player (i play bass for more than 30 years although i'm only 38), but to have purdie and bascombe together is why HAIR is the best soundtrack i've ever heard and still listen to after more then 20 years. So GOOD!!!!!!!!
