@JamesA46 Um, no, at least not according to reality.
Roe: 11 Top 40 --- 6 Top 10 --- 2 #1s
The Beatles: 51 Top 40 --- 34 Top 10 --- 27 #1s
Kids, just say no to drugs.

@508ItsLove record company was correct on that one.

A total Buddy knock off... but still brilliant!

Logging in from Wellington, New Zealand. Yes, this was HUUUGE in New Zealand. I was fifteen when "Sheila" burst onto the NZ Charts and raced up to #1. It definitely rates in my Top Ten of all time. Tommy Roe was an extremely accomplished singer and song writer and had fourteen Top Fifty hits on the US Billboard charts. "Sweet Pea" and 'Dizzy" were his other #1 hits besides "Sheila". Great

Remeber when this came out and the pop pundits at school said,"They 're looking for a replacement for Buddy Holly!" That was in the UK BTW...Great memories! Thanks

This is not the original release of Sheila. The original was released on Judd Records. It is a bit more primitive and the guitar parts sound similar to those played by Ritchie Valens. Great song and so is this one. The Judd varsion is here on U-Tube somewhere. If you run across it please drop me the head line for it.
Thank you for the post. Love it.
