The Scare Video: The Screamer, also known as a Prank Flash, is a simple, yet effective way to make people jump out of their skin. Screamers are sort of like Shocking images you see by surprise, they're horrifying, and you can't unsee them. Nowadays, Screamers are a common breed on the internets, due to all the young kids that freak out over watching these prank flashes on the internet and Youtube.

Screamers usually involve a Flash program or Video that displays images carefully selected for their apparent relationship to interest, such as subliminal messages. Many of them also include ridiculously quiet soundtracks, either very quietly played "scary" music or someone whispering incomprehensibly, which would appear at first to be part of the ambiance. Of course, in reality, this is all just a setup. The images have nothing to do with anything, and the soundtrack exists solely to force the unwitting viewer to turn up the volume.
After causing the unwitting viewer to stare intensely at their screen and listen very very carefully for several minutes (which is funny in itself to the prank-player), the Flash will suddenly display very disturbing or scary images accompanied by a loud scream played at max volume. Because the unwitting viewer has already cranked their volume up, their eardrums explode and they inevitably pee their pants. Witnessing this will probably cause you too pee your pants from the sheer lulz.
