Here's a sneak peak at some new UI in 3ds Max and 3ds Max Design to make modeling faster (and possibly more fun). This is part of the XBR UI initiative.
It's the functionality that matters, koyima, not the color of the buttons FFS, The new interface should save a lot clicks and panel scrolling.
The ribbon is taking some getting used to for me but I can see the reasoning behind it, especially with today's widescreen monitors it's a shorter trip up to the ribbon than over to the modify panel, and having widgets right in the viewport for making adjustments is going to save even more time and writst strain..
Actually if you are considering feedback I have one main thing to point out: I think the organization of tools in max is really good and I also liked the consistency (not like maya which has none: 5 menus for editing a model and one for muscles on the same line, while hypershade is hidden) . So I am not against changing it, but it has to be consistent, I don't like having one tool working one way and the other having a tick and an x. It's either all ticks or all OK.
XBR is many things. One of the things is refining the UI. These caddies are a refinement. They aren't the sum total of XBR. Are we not allowed to make incremental improvements? I think that is a lot less disruptive than massive change.
