Congressman Peter Roskam's (R-IL) floor speech in support of H.R. 634 American Veterans Disabled for Life Commemorative Coin Act.

The Memorial honors all disabled veterans throughout our nation's history. Transcending conflicts, service branches, and generations, the Memorial will express our nation's gratitude to those who have paid the terrible cost for defending freedom. A setting for reflection and reaching out, the Memorial will hold a special place in the hearts of all Americans and serve as an eternal reminder of the human cost of conflict.

This Memorial will rank among the most hallowed in our Nation's Capitol — it represents the values of duty, courage and sacrifice that are the lifeblood of American democracy.

The Memorial will remind all Americans that the price of freedom may be paid in the blood and broken bodies of our citizen-soldiers who have made the blessings of Freedom possible — for America and for others.

  • Peter Roskam and all Congressmen and Women that voted YEA have been completely misled by Lois Pope and her "Self Serving" Foundations. They should do a bit of investigating before supporting this project. Check the tax returns and expenses to see if the Memorial and other LIFE Foundations have been co-mingled. Just read what her son says at loispope.com

  • Instead of holding the heads of the V.A. responsable for abuse of disabled veterans, our politicians build memorials and play games. What a total joke. Get us proper health care not coins and memorials.

  • Please watch the You Tube video Stand Forever Tall with original song by Doc Ells that pays tribute to wounded and killed troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The song pays special tribute to wounded women soldiers.
