I watched the video and it would be better it their was talking secondly I read some of the comments. I am right handed and I can not get the flip. I guess you could say I am dooing reverse work. How can I reverse my reverse work and get the flips just right. I cant seem to get any further till I get the flip. Any comments?

I see what you are doing but I don't see how it would be easier than regular tatting with a shuttle. I tat with the shuttle but beside the flip not being there is there an advantage to doing this? Or is it just another way to tat. Not discouraging it just curious.

Yes, the two are very closely related. I've heard it's easier to learn needle tatting than it is to learn shuttle tatting, and that certain patterns are easier for each style. I've also seen that you could use more than one shuttle for multi-colored lace; I don't know if you could do that as easily with the needle. I'm only beginning to learn this needlecraft.

No you do not have to have two shuttles to do this. What happens is this. instead of flipping your stitches just do the knots like you would for one half of the split ring, if you are making a ring all you need do is make the core thread circle so that you can pull it through and be able to continue to the chain. I find it easier to have two shuttles but its just personal preference.

The advantage to this way of tatting is that you have direct control over the stitch tightness. You can control easier how the stitch lays. The other part is that when you are reading a pattern you will see that the progression is more easily layed out. It still builds on the pattern in the same direction. In my estimation the stitches are easier to keep track of and easier to get back out should you need to do so.
