Yes you have to be careful but as long as you don't look directly at the beam you are ok.
Remember the laser travels in a very straight line and is focused a few mm from the lens to read the data from a disc, not in all directions.

when i turn my ps3 on the blue light stays off and it doesnt acsept disks or read them, can someone tell me whats wrong????

@OGMoneyStaxxx: STFU, you act like he's going to get super powers from it or something. It will not produce enough radiation to do any harm. The only reason the warning is there is for liability reasons.
