Geiger Counter Demonstration

Here is my Geiger counter in action again.

This time, I'm exposing it to multiple types of radioactive material. The material used in this demonstration consisted of the following:

1) A high quality sample of Torbernite Urainium Ore rated @ 51,000 CPM (dose rate: approx. 1.2 mR/h).

2) 10 micro Curies of Cesium-137 (a primary Beta particle emmiter).

3) A 5-gram sample of Trinitite.

4) Another sample of Torbernite Uranium ore rated @ 26,000 CPM (dose rate: approx. 400 micro-Roentgen/hour).

Altogether, I was able to get my Geiger counter to register approximately 1.58 milli-Roentgen/h).

That isn't geiger counter. It's semiconductor dosimeter. Not same.

Um, It contains a Geiger-Müller tube; therefore, it is most definately a geiger-counter. It can function in the capacity of a digital dosimeter, but it reads background radiation using a geiger tube.

Test mayonnaise and pepto bismol with your geiger counter!!!! you will be shocked!

If you pull the camera back just a smidge and put it down, it will be less jerky and may be possible to focus it a bit too. It looked interesting but other than a good shot of a table and your wrist, it was hard to see what was going on.
