At the age of a little over 70, I must confess that I had not heard of this work before, and of course had not heard it.
I was quite dumbfounded. It is terrific, marvellous - but at the same time difficult to describe as it is so out of the ordinary that it makes any comment difficult.
Also, why not perform this with your community band? Make an informal concert out of it if you are concerned they will get bored or be confused... I played it once in a food court over lunch hour. People loved it.
We all sight transposed... it's really the only way to do it (and once you've learned each section it's really not that bad.)
We used the laptop for the pulse because we only had a small number of people to begin with, and only one percussionist (me!) and I, quite understandably, wanted to actually play instead of hitting the same key for an hour, haha.
I want to do this with my community band sometime -- at a rehearsal, if not actually at a concert. Did you all transpose on the fly, or did you have transposed parts?
this is REALLY cool....WOW I'm like...all aquiver ahaha
I've just started working on this piece as part of the York University new music ensemble, and i can't WAIT until we sound like this. i am so in love with this piece.....
Thank you, I'm glad you like it.

Hey,
It's great to see other people as enamored with this piece as myself. Playing it was a great opportunity...
Make sure to check out the Paul Hilllier recording released in 2006 on the Ars Nova label. It is BY FAR the best recording of this piece.
Cheers,
Sean.
(PS: When are you playing in C, I'll be out that way in December, it would be great to hear your rendition - or join in!).
