  • I disagree; this performance packs a powerful punch. Bronfman is one of the most passionate, exciting and technically gifted pianists in the world right now. His tempo alone in this movement would have pulled Tchaikovsky himself past the edge of his seat. Look out: it's the Yefimator!!

  • I believe that is the best I've heard so far. Could Rachmoninov have performed it better? (I don't know that he did play this piece).

My God, that encore! So refined, logical but beautiful. Did that not require as much controlled flow as the concerto? I got more from that than a Prokofiev tour de force.

  • What a dazzling tempo!

  • I like Van Cliburn more than him, while playing this concerto

  • Wow, my favorite interpretation of this grand concerto. Personally, I think this is 'his' piece.

  • Have you uploaded the 1st and 2nd movements as well?

  • Bronfman is considered one of the most talented performing virtuosos of today. I actually just saw him perform at Avery Fisher hall today where he played Prokofiev's concerto No.2 in G minor, Op. 16 and he was absolutely incredible in every aspect. And while I can only use his reputation as a refutal to a certain extent, I disagree, its not heavy, and I clearly see direction within every phrase. He knows what he's doing

  • A thoughtful, delightful way to follow such a "barn-burner" concerto.

Tremendous concentration and control on his part.

  • Have you spoken to Tchaikovsky recently? As a composer, allow me to say that we do not suppose that every performer will know what we "wanted." Rather, we look at each performance as an interpretation of our intentions- they are typically neither good nor bad...just illuminating.

  • Unfortunately, only on a CD. This same performance is on a CD with Bronfman playing, yeah it's much clearer, I would've been interested in seeing it though. But I can't complain, I've got the entire thing, it's good, and I've got the rest on actual video.
