This brings back a lot of great memories. Back in the 70's I was a Freestyle/Ballett and Bump skier. Suzy Chaffee was awesome and I saw her perform several times. I still have my old Olin Ballet and well as my Kneissl Ballet skis and my Scott boots!. This was the original extreme sport before there was a name for it. She was so damn hot!!! Great video. Thanks.

Great to hear from a freestyle skier. Some infant left a comment with one of the other ballet skiing videos, to the effect of "WTF is this stuff?" Shredders, pipers and jibbers wearing baggies just don't get it. Back in the day, you earned the right to wear form-fitting winter clothes by racing or skiing with grace and style.

In my youth I uncorked a few royals, tip rolls, outriggers and killer kicks. Never saw Suzy live, wish I did, but in '74 I came upon a cutie at Copper Mountain practicing her ballet routine and I was stunned. Long live spinning foursomes of edges!

Footnote: Ms. Chaffee was forty-four years old at the time this clip was made. Back in the day, around the time of Barbara Cochran's gold medal, I remember a pretty French ski racer named Danielle Debernard. I can't find any pictures of her.
