  • She has a spondy at L5-S1 and having problems flex at L5-S1 on the R facet jt. To protect the jt on the R side and to avoid flare up, I chose an indirect method. If I mobilized the R side directly, then flare up can happen bc of the lock is rotating her upper lever to the right. To avoid this, I put her R side down and rotate the upper lever to the L in a flex bias which helps to further flex the R segment. If no instability, my preference would be as you mentioned with the R side up. thanks

  • Please explain to me how this helps the RIGHT side?? If she is having a hypomobility issue at L5/S1 and decreased flexion on right, why not do the technique with the right side up and therefore mobilizing/manipulating the right joint?? Makes much more sense to me. All you are doing here is compressing the right side together. Doesnt make sense as to why this helps improve flexion... Just curious as to your thought process on this.
