Scary Approach and Landning AeroGal B737-200 at Guayaquil Airport (Near crash)

@fsx767 I noticed the same thing, bu then I remembered that the last setting of flaps on some jets of this type are speed limited to protect the flap system. It may have been that he was going too fast on the approach and flaps 40 (let's say) was selected but was not actually carried through by the plane until the airspeed had bled enough (near touchdown in his case); which may fit with his aggressive maneuvering...(maybe hr was trying to slow down by making tight curves on the approach path...

@hejniclas search for the approach plates for that airport and see if it looks one of them!! And im quite sure this app was visual and flown manually..as for the touchdown point, runway threshold can be displaced for a lot of reasons!! Flaps 40 would help him go down faster if he was high and fast!

@fsx767 I many cases that is pretty normal procedure... Speed limits on approach can go both ways.. because of traffic behind, there is a speed limit you ain allowed to go under untill certain miles from the airport... Take easyJet pilots... many of them dont even start setting flaps until 8-10 miles from the runway... have expirienced that many times... My guess is that he set flap that late to tip nose,so he didnt have that high nose up attitude when hitting the surface...

Stop wining. There's nothing wrong here

@hejniclas Hmm I think the pilot touched down almost at halfway the runaway however the plane is small and very maneuverable so it stopped on time...

high angle in lading! Very dangerous approach!
very nice movie

alarmista !!! eso es mas normal que una fanesca en semana santa !!

And the near crash part was?......

woah flaps 1 second before land, long flare urgh what a pilot, maybe another aircraft in the approach path were comming (to prevent delay) he did that

@hejniclas a lot of people get really nervous on turns to final. i made a trip to florida and people thought we were stalling when we were setting up for a really nice approach.
i dont think it was that bad of an apporach myself, the touchdown wasnt really late, the pilots knew they had enough room to land and they made it succesfully.
and you know what they say a good lading is one you can walk away from, a great landing is one where you can use the plane again :D sorry for the long coment.

flaps a second for touch???°_0
camera angle is different than the wings bank angle, the B737-200 has a limit angle of 30 degrees while using auto pilot. All the approachs in Guayaquil are made by auto pilot until 300 feet wich is the desicion alt. it is a long runway so the airplane doesnt need to land full flaps (40 degrees) it approachs with flaps 30 and the speed is controlled by the autotrhotle and configuration setting.
Please inform yourself or ask the pilot the next time instead of posting anything like this.

@warriorecuador
well, i landed there 3 times during my stay in ecuador, 2 times with aerogal and 1 with iberia, NON of the other approaches/landings were like this one..
And no, im not saying that the pilot did something worng. but i do think it was scary(like almost every body onboard that plane) and i have the right to think so...
and lol, i named it to "almost crash" just to get more viewers!
anyways, i don't want to fight with you, so i can change the title if that would make you happy.
