I think I'm screwed. I can't download apps because I can't access my gmail account. I can't reactive my gmail password because I forgot the answer to the security question. Google clearly states on their site that they can't help someone if they forgot their security answer. I don't know what to do now. Verizon tells me that it's a google issue. I can't even update from firware version 1.5 cuz I keep getting prompted for my gmail password. :o(

Just as an FYI, HTC has officially announced that they are rolling out Android 2.1 (Eclair) to the Hero-based handsets in mid-march. Since the Eris is derived from the Sprint Hero (which is derived from the European Hero), it is generally assumed the update will be applied to it. This should include the updated Market.

every time i choose the messages widget, it takes me to my email, or my browser or something that is totally not my text messages, please help

I'm pretty certain that the Eris, like all other Android devices have the stock IM app pre-installed. However, the pre-installed IM app deducts from your SMS pool. Something to keep in mind if you don't have an unlimited texting plan.

Probably if you tap "register", the part you've registered, will be pasted when you tap and hold and choose "paste" ... it's just a guess...
