For years, Mary Walsh made Canadians laugh with her offbeat, irreverent humour on programs such as "This Hour has Twenty-Two Minutes" and "Codco". Born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Mary's career as performer began when she was 18, earning a spot as a summer host for CBC Radio. Mary then enrolled in the theatre arts program at Ryerson University, but after a few months returned to Newfoundland where she joined the Newfoundland Travelling Theatre Company and later Codco. Walsh gained national prominence with the CBC's "This Hour Has Twenty-Two Minutes" where the sarcastic wit and biting satire of Walsh's characters, Dakey Dunn and Marg Delahunty Princess Warrior struck a resonant chord with Canadians. Walsh continues to write and perform in both film and television and is a spokesperson for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and a number of social causes.

Ken Rockburn spoke to 'Princess Warrior' Mary Walsh in her home in St. John's.
